LaRae M. Jome

I am a licensed psychologist in the states of Minnesota and New York. I have been working in the field of psychology for 20 years providing counseling services, teaching graduate students, conducting research, and supervising counseling students. For the first part of my career I was a professor in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at the University at Albany, in Albany, New York. My family and I relocated to the Twin Cities in 2014, returning to our Midwestern roots. In addition to my private practice, I continue to teach doctoral students in Counseling Psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

I have experience working with a wide range of mental health issues for adults, adolescents, and couples including depression, relationship issues, anxiety, gender issues, sexual orientation/LGBT, sexuality, sexual assault, experiences with discrimination, counseling immigrants and refugees, and grief and loss.

My area of specialization is in vocational psychology, and I have taught doctoral courses and conducted research in this area for many years. Common career counseling issues that I work with include helping people find a career direction, make a career transition, balance work and parenting and negotiate work decisions related to parenting, and navigate retirement. I also help LGBT individuals consider work options and help immigrants and refugees navigate the world of work.
