A native of Spearfish, Melody Larsen earned her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master of Science in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Oregon.
Melody specializes in working with couples, families, adolescents, and LGBTQ +, and her therapeutic approach is strengths-focused and based on systems theory, which views individuals in light of their interactions and relationships with others. Her approach to counseling involves acknowledging clients’ own wisdom through practical, supportive, and empathetic connection, and helping them to identify strengths within themselves, develop self-awareness, and reach their self-defined goals.
Melody’s practice draws from solution-focused therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy, according to clients’ needs.
